A friend asked me to review the MLS course from PSI Semianrs and how it could be improved and here is what I came up with.
Hi XXX,
I have been trying to formulate a sophisticated
review of MLS and try to find all of the things that could be improved on, but it really was a phenomenal event so it has been a bit challenging. The fact is because it was a Leadership Course, there aren't many things that I would say need to be "fixed" or could be done better.
As I was writing down everyday and reviewing
everything, the answer I kept coming up with which was one of my biggest lessons there was that a leader surrenders to what is, does not complain, bitch or wine and gets off their ass and makes things happen.
Just because there was lack of food, sleep, comfort, safety,
organization, understanding, information, preparation, agreement, clarity, etc, etc, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...none of that mattered because to me the event taught Leadership Skills, which is to rise above all of that and inspire others to do the same in the face of everything that could be "wrong" or needs to be "fixed".
Sure
there was no expectation or warning of hard manual labor with machinery, sleeping outdoors, possibly starving or suffering lack of hydration, being vulnerable and sharing our most intimate life experiences with complete strangers, putting our physical bodies at risk with long hikes in the blazing sun and having to spend multiple sleepless nights completing projects, but a real leader will do whatever it takes to get the job done when they are committed.
Dam XXX...MLS was like
an Army Boot Camp to me and I loved it. It taught me no matter what the
conditions are that a Leader will rise above and inspire others to do the same. I feel like beating my chest like a gorilla thinking about how amazing the event was. :-)
I would only say that anyone who
takes MLS should be ready to truly become a leader...no matter what, because that is what is delivered (breaking through all that crap I listed above). All my shit that I have been avoiding or didn't even realize I have been avoiding came up and the facilitators of the event helped me to the extent that I wanted to breakthrough to the next level in my life.
I am a better leader as a result of MLS and would
endorse it for anyone else wanting to become the same. I am sorry that I could not tell you more about how to improve MLS, because as it was designed I feel got results for me.
If you would like me to
expand or share more on anything, let me know. I don't think I was wearing rose colored glasses writing this, because the same reason that I would complain about anything with MLS, would be the same reason that I would not have the results in my life that I so desired.
PS...now
I am fired up about being a leader that I am going to post this on my blog for others to see with a link to PSI Seminars
